Long Days Night

Been a long day and now a long night.  We're stuck in Newark, NJ praying that our flight to Nashville doesn't cancel.  Fortunately, Continental airlines has been so helpful in letting us know that they can promptly get us on the next flight out.....TUESDAY night at 8:05.  Now that's customer service.

Seriously, I'm praying that this flight leaves here tonight and that we do not join the hundreds of people who are already camped out here.

Pictures later of our "interesting" getaway to the Big Apple.

HOUSTON...We Have a Problem...

So, this is where I found Ella Kate this morning. Standing on top of the train table with a big grin. Doesn't she look proud of herself? My precious flower of a girl is turning out to be rather rough and tumbly! She is an adventure girl to say the least.
She doesn't push her walker toys, she climbs on them backwards. Oh well, she's stinkin cute regardless.

Happy New Year!!

Happy 2008 everyone!!

We drove up in our driveway from Texas last night just in time to see the ball drop. We left for Texas on Friday, December 21 and had a great time visiting family and friends. Here are some highlights from our trip.

Making chocolate covered pretzels with Gran.
Ella Kate's first (2) bowls of gumbo... c'est bon!Christmas at Grammy's with Zachary and Olivia.
Uhh, yes...it's a goat. Christmas at Papa John's house in the country.

Ethan and Mia watching the garbage truck at Gran and Pop's. It is a much cooler garbage truck than our's; it has a "claw" on it that picks up the cans.Christmas at Grandmama and Da's. This is Ella Kate and cousin Camryn in their matching Christmas jammies and Mia wearing a fancy red hat. That's also my lil' sis, Clarissa.

Everybody's got a water buffalo?

Please, someone tell me you have seen the Veggie Tales episode where Larry sings about the water buffalo. "Ohhh, everybody's got a water buffalo, some are fast but mine is slow. How'd they get here I don't know but everybody's got a water buffalo ooooooooohhhhh!" You should rent the silly songs with Larry, I'm sure it's on there.

Why am I ranting about a water buffalo? I'm glad you asked. Today I got a home school newsletter that talked about Gospel for Asia. There is actually an online catalogue where you can buy a water buffalo (just $430!) for someone in Asia. No! I'm not kidding!! Stop laughing at me, Shawn (don't check the online banking, I didn't buy a water buffalo. I did consider buying a pair of chickens though...they're only 10.00!!) So, you purchase one of these animals or pieces of farm equipment, or even a house and it is given to a person in need. Well, don't take my word for it, look at it yourself. http://www.gfa.org/gift/07/from-the-stable

I think this would be an awesome way to teach my kids about missions and what our money actually buys for these people in need. (don't worry Lottie Moon, you're still in our budget for the month!) So Shawn, get the checkbook ready. When you get home tonight, we might be buying some pigs. OINK!

Preschool Choir Program

Sunday, Mia performed with the preschool choir in their Thanksgiving/Christmas program. She was so excited and a little nervous (she told me before we got to the church that she felt a little bit nervous). She loves to sing and is surrounded by some of her sweetest friends. Their moms are also bloggers so I hope they are okay with their kiddos being posted. (If not, please let me know and I'll crop them out.)
Ethan will probably be involved in the spring so get ready for the hilarity to begin. He and Ella Kate were a perfect audience and were both glued to the stage. Ella Kate was practicing on the stage before the performance.
