Have You Lost Your MARBLES???

The Hanks family is trying out a new form of behavior modification...the ol' jar of marbles concept. Mia and Ethan have to work together to get a specified amount of marbles in their jar by the end of the week. They gain marbles for random acts of kindness, generosity, patience etc. They get marbles taken away, however, for undesirable behaviors (need I describe? oh okay, maybe one....Driving Mommy so crazy that she loses her marbles!)

We've had a lot of whining and picking at each other lately. Apparently, having them quote Philippians 2:14 over and over is beginning to lose it's punch ("Do everything without complaining or arguing.") I'm singing that for you...did you catch that tune? (It's to "Did You Ever See a Lassie?") Anyway, now we're trying a combination of scripture with marbles. I'm convinced God's Word will not return void, but we need a visual, so thank you Lord, for the marble idea.

So, day one was yesterday and we got up to 7 marbles and then by the end of our trip to Publix and the post office we were back down to one. Today we ended the day with 6! Yeah!! If they end the day on Friday with at least 10, they get to go to Dippin Dots. It's really great the way they work together to keep each other out of trouble. We'll see how long it lasts.
